"Corporate thinking and entrepreneurship are of the greatest importance for the economic development of the European Union. It is all the more important to promote business competence at an early stage. The EBC*L Champions League is already awakening an entrepreneurial spirit and interest in business among young people," highlighted Simone Baldassarri, representative of the European Commission's Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry, on 21 January in Vienna's Urania, which played host to 100 participants from eleven countries, including Germany, Slovenia, Spain and Hungary. The European Commission supported the international competition as one of the projects recognised by the EU for the promotion of entrepreneurial thinking.
Austrian Federal Minister Beatrix Karl appeared thrilled by the commitment shown by the international participants: "These young, motivated people, who have worked with commitment and enthusiasm for the European Business Competence* Licence and the Champions League, are taking an active role in the economic and social future of Europe."
Heinz Herzceg, manager at Trenkwalder, the human resources service provider, summarised what matters in business: "Flexibility, a solid training and the will to continue to learn, are the best prerequisites for an international career. In the process, a decisive role is played by the business competence conveyed by EBC*L." Victor Mihalic, manager of EBC*L's international headquarters, added: "The goal of EBC*L is to offer graduates a real job advantage on the marketplace by means of the certificate and, additionally, to inspire them for business. We will also continue to actively work on this in the future."
The awards ceremony was conducted by Federal Minister Beatrix Karl, Simone Baldassarri and Victor Mihalic, together with presenter Manuela Raidl. The very best of the EBC*L Champions League was Maria Luisa Nuzzo from Italy. The winners were rewarded with cheques in the amount of 3,300 Euro, valuable non-cash prizes and an apprenticeship at Trenkwalder, one of the largest human resources service providers in Central Europe.
