The EBC*L Champions League winners are nominated!

The EBC*L champion's l eague winners are nominated:
An Austrian and a Hungarian are sharing the first price from the international school competition for business administration.

That's how business leaders of the future look like. Regina Friedl from Austria (HAK Judenburg) and Veronika Ács from Hungary (Széchenyi István Szakképző Iskola) achieved within the Champions League competition exactly the same amount of points on the EBC*L exam (European Business Competence licence) and therefore were equally nominated as winners. The third place was reached by another Austrian. The winners can go home 750, -- euros richer. The winners cheques were handed out by Misses Maruja Gutierrez-Diaz from the EU-Commission in Brussels as well as by Univ.-Prof. Gerhard E. Ortner, chairman of the council for business competence in Europe. One of the congratulators was the president of the fond of Viennese merchants, Rainer Trefelik, who was representing the Viennese federal economic chamber.

Not only were the ones who reached the first places winners. All the 40 participants who qualified for the finals of the international competition as well as the many hundreds of participants who participated at the national competition of the EBC*L Champions League won. Victor Mihalic- CEO of the European Center of the EBC*L is convinced : "They have gained a lot of experience and with the European Business Competence Licence they have obtained "the licence to join in a conversation"- even in politico-economic questions." The general subject of the final event emphasized that they are really in the position to do so: The consequences of globalization and the possible strategies, how one can meet this challenge, were both contents of the EBC*L exam and of the following top-class assigned discussion round.

"In order to compete in the global economy Europe needs people, who dispose of business competence. "Initiatives like the EBC*L Champions League promote the motivation and the ambition of pupils to acquire and prove exactly these competences ", says M. Gutierrez-Diaz. The necessity of business administration know how can only be confirmed by H. Herczeg, personnel manager of Trenkwalder personnel services AG: "That's why every executive manager at Trenkwalder has to complete the EBC*L exam - in order to prove their business competence." R. Trefelik also underlines the high value of business administration: "the federal chamber of economics welcomes initiatives like the EBC*L Champions League, that contribute to the further spreading of business competence."

Mrs. Szilvia Anna Magyar of national Institute for occupation and adult education in Hungary expresses the fact that in particular the Eastern European states have pent-up demand within the range of economical education. Therefore a special emphasis is given to this topic in the Hungarian educational system- "the EBC*L belongs starting from the next school year in many ranges to the fixed component of the curriculum", says Mrs. Magyar.

Univ. Prof. Gerhard E. Ortner's opinion however is that the lead of the Western European states is not all too large. According to a current education study in the German-speaking countries only 2 % of the working persons have basic economical knowledge. "Therefore initiatives like European Business Competence License, EBC*L, that motivate citizens in a special way to look into the subject of business administration are so important". Competitions like the EBC*L Champion League are increasing this motivation additionally."

Victor Mihalic can only pursue this opinion: "It has been already decided that the EBC*L Champions League will be carried out next year again. It is to become a fixed star of the European education landscape." Starting from next year however not only pupils, but also students and working persons will be able to participate in it. Further information about this is posted under www.ebcl.at . Additional tip: Here you can also find the extre mely original designs from the pupils, who drew to the topic "globalization".
